Rice: yes or no?

I want you to read this article at Mark's Daily Apple regarding the "Asian Paradox".

One of the pushbacks I receive from people, including my husband, is "if carbs are so bad and make you fat, then explain little Asian people."  Fantastic question.

Two thoughts: One, I always thought I was doing the right thing by forcing my husband to eat brown rice. Turns out I was so wrong! And two, I really do miss rice sometimes - especially to soak up a yummy meat gravy (boeuf bourguignon) or tomato sauce. I think a little white rice (organic) once in a great while would be a good cheat. And I feel better giving my husband rice to eat - because he really needs the carbs on his muscular, thin frame - rather than him crave bread and pasta.
